# Our Impact












						“This was a great overview of how cybersecurity intersects with emergency management and how it can affect a jurisdiction.”

## No-cost Training








State, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) communities, as well as critical infrastructure and industry partners, which include small businesses, public-private partnerships, and other entities, are targeted and at risk for cyberattacks. Local governments often lack sufficient resources to protect and defend themselves against even the most basic attacks, not to mention sophisticated persistent threats.









To effectively address the cybersecurity concerns facing our nation, the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC) members have provided tuition-free Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) training and no-cost cybersecurity solutions for the past two decades.

## Aligned with National Strategies







To effectively address dynamic and ever-evolving cyber threats, cybersecurity strategies, goals, and objectives across the nation must be aligned. The NCPC is dedicated to alignment with national cybersecurity strategies and goals:
























### Presidential Policy Directive 8







									Established to support [PPD-8](https://www.dhs.gov/presidential-policy-directive-8-national-preparedness), the **National Preparedness System** and the National Preparedness Goal are key elements in the ongoing efforts to keep the nation resilient. NCPC courses align with the tenets of national preparedness,  designed to develop the core capabilities needed for **prevention**, **protection**, **mitigation**, **response**, and **recovery**.





















### Executive Order 14028







									NCPC training aligns with federal [Executive Order 14028](https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/05/12/executive-order-on-improving-the-nations-cybersecurity/), signed on May 12, 2021, “**Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity**” which lays out improvements to cybersecurity policy, information sharing, and the software supply chain.





















### FEMA Strategic Plan







									The NCPC is mindful of the [2022-2026 FEMA Strategic Plan](https://www.fema.gov/about/strategic-plan) and continues to align with the plan to **strengthen the emergency management workforce** in cybersecurity training.





















### Cyberspace Solarium Commission







							**

				“the nation must be sufficiently prepared to respond to and recover from an attack, sustain critical functions even under degraded conditions, and, in some cases, restart critical functionality after disruption.”








This is a layered cyber deterrence strategy that reduces the probability and impact of significant cyberattacks. NCPC courses align with [Solarium](https://www.solarium.gov/)‘s call to expand planning capacity and improve readiness for cyber incident response and recovery efforts.

## The Five Universities





									To support the Executive Order, five universities came together in 2004 to create the NCPC.

Through cooperative agreements administered by FEMA, the NCPC offers 50 cybersecurity training courses, with 19 more in development. These courses have been completed by end-users, information technology personnel and local government leaders.

## By The Numbers







The NCPC has achieved significant milestones in the development, certification and delivery of cybersecurity training in cooperation with DHS/FEMA. During the recent fiscal year, NCPC has implemented new delivery methods and tools, collaborated with partners to develop specialized cybersecurity certificates and supported national-level cybersecurity events to assist state, local, tribal, territorial (SLTT) communities with meeting their cybersecurity needs.
